The Vision

A Decade of Research,
One Island of Purpose

Born from ten years of on-the-ground research in the Maldives, the Gateway to a Piece of Paradise (G2PP) is the most ambitious sustainable luxury development in the Indo-Pacific region.

Developed by RES Trade GmbH and Avalon, and operated by the award-winning Cocoon Collection (Milan), G2PP is designed to prove that ultra-luxury hospitality and genuine environmental stewardship are inseparable.

The Maldives — recipient of the World's Leading Green Destination Award 2024 — aligns perfectly with the nation's net-zero 2030 commitment. G2PP aspires to candidacy for the Earthshot Prize.

Environmental Commitment

Luxury Without Compromise

Every architectural choice, every technology deployed, every operational protocol at G2PP flows from one purpose: to deliver extraordinary experiences while protecting — not exploiting — the ocean ecosystem that makes them possible.

☀️

Clean Energy

Solar arrays and wave energy utilization power the entire island, eliminating fossil fuel dependency and supporting the Maldives' national net-zero 2030 goal.

🌊

Marine Conservation

Dedicated coral nurseries, marine biology education, and personalised coral-planting experiences at the resort's diving centre. The ocean is a partner, not a backdrop.

💧

Water Systems

On-site desalination, purification, greywater recycling, and locally bottled reusable drinking water — dramatically reducing plastic waste and freshwater impact.

♻️

Zero-Waste Operations

Waste-to-energy technology, composting systems, and rigorous waste protocols ensure the island's fragile ecosystem is never compromised by operations.

📱

Smart Sustainability

BIM and IoT sensors monitor resource use in real time. The guest loyalty app tracks individual carbon and ocean footprints, connecting conservation to rewards.

🏆

Earthshot Prize

G2PP is positioned as a candidate for the Earthshot Prize — founded by Prince William & Sir David Attenborough — for scalable environmental solutions.

Risk Management

Top 3 Critical Risks & Mitigations

01
Supply Chain & Logistics
Risk Score: 13 → 11 after mitigation

Island remoteness, limited on-site storage (22% buildable area), and total reliance on sea/seaplane freight create significant supply chain complexity and cost exposure.

JIT delivery · Off-site Malé warehouse · GPS IoT tracking · BIM supply monitoring · Bulk shipping contracts
02
Environmental Compliance
Risk Score: 12 → 11 after mitigation

Strict Maldivian eco-regulations govern coral reef proximity, underwater construction, and marine habitat protection. Non-compliance risks project suspension.

Dedicated Compliance Officer · Early government engagement · Coral planting protocols · Regular environmental audits
03
Weather & Marine Conditions
Risk Score: 12 → 11 after mitigation

Monsoons and ocean currents can disrupt all freight and construction. All island access is by sea or seaplane — zero land-based alternatives.

Buffer scheduling · Seasonal construction planning · Weather insurance · Historical data modelling · Flexible task sequencing
